Uslu Airlines - BBB

Pearls & Lace is excited to announce the arrival of Uslu Airlines BBB Nail Polish Range. Uslu Airlines is co-piloted by Berlin based make up artist Feride Uslu and her partner Jan Mihm. All uslu airlines products and colours have airport names. They like to call our products ‘destinations’ and therefore use the global aviation 3-letter-code system for our product organization… they pick the names by heart, by sound, by love, by many many categories! Some are big, well known and often travelled (like JFK or CDG, for example). Others are very small (like TUY) or very boring (like SIR). A few of their destination airports do not even have a landing strip or runway: the heliports or the water plane airports on lakes and rivers.

The BBB nail polish range is a selection of Uslu Airlines 11 best selling colours and for every purchase, 90 cents goes to Bread & Butter for charity, and currently they are donating to Berlin Arche, an organisation that helps children in need.

Uslu Airlines - now landed at Pearls & Lace.

Art Sydney 2010

After seeing Banksy's film Exit Through the Gift Shop a few weeks  ago,  I thought I would get on the street art bandwagon and see what the ride was like. Turns out it's not so bad, and while I'm no expert, I know what I like and I know that I like it. And if you feel like purchasing some of it (and at much more reasonable prices than Mr Brainwash was peddling his wares for), then you're in luck. Today kicks of Art Sydney 2010, which showcases artists from a diverse range of galleries, and the fair's main purpose is to provide affordable art for purchase. According to the Art Sydney 2010 website:

Sydney’s affordable art fair offers something for every budget, with an extensive range of art available, from contemporary to traditional, emerging to investment. From educational art walks, floor talks, demonstrations and entertainment and a diverse range of galleries and hundreds of artists on site, they are the perfect environment to discover the art world, feel inspired and purchase original and authentic pieces you love.

And if you're after affordable street art, then check out the Urban Uprising stall at the event. They will be featuring prints from artists such as Banksy, Shepard Fairey, Nanami Cowdroy, Pure Evil and Nick Walker among others. So head on down to Moore Park to check it all out.

Tanzanian Trivia & Cocktail Party

Meet Kate Sherwood, a lovely lady who is on well on her way to raising a very impressive $10,000 for Kids Help Line (she is currently at $9,000), undertaking a 7 day trekking challenge to climb Tanzania's Mount Kilimanjaro (at 5,893 meters, the world's highest free standing mountain) followed by volunteer project work at the School of St Jude in Tanzania. As part of Kate's fundraising efforts, she is hosting a Trivia night at The Royal Oak hotel in Balmain on Saturday 6th November. So for all those Sydneysiders out there, please show some support and come down for a great night out and a great cause (oh and there is a chance to win some Pearls & Lace vouchers as well!). To book tickets to the night, contact Katie on 0409 311 402 or ksherwood@live.com.au. For more info about Kate's climb, visit http://www.everydayhero.com.au/kate_sherwood.
